Traffic Control Plan for Bangor Bridge Construction

Detour plans were spelled out for the bridge construction on Union Street in Bangor.

The new bridge over I-95 will have an additional lane.

Construction will shut several neighboring streets down and reduce Union street to one lane on each side.

Orono Bog Walk Ready for Next Phases of Construction

The Orono Bog Walk is getting redone just in time for the nicer weather.

Improvements include new footing and decking as well as three wheelchair turn-outs.

The bog walk management team has already restored more than 100 sections of the boardwalk and hopes to get the funds for the next round.

Sarah’s House Construction Project a Community Effort

Sarah’s House in Holden is undergoing some construction.

The cancer hospitality house is remodeling to better suit patients visiting for treatment at Lafayette. 

There will be new bedrooms, tow of which are completely handicapped accessible.

Young Women Explore, Embrace ‘Manly’ Trades

Some people might think that fields like construction or engineering are more suitable for men.  High school girls in Maine are working to break that stereotype.

“It’s like not normal to see a lot of women in manly trades or untraditional trades and so I want to prove to them that we are very capable as well and we don’t have to do the traditional trades that women normally do,” says Tyla Baker, a student at Penobscot Job Corps.
