Oakland Edge Tool Industry

July 17 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

| Free

Did you know that the factories for Oakland’s economy were the ones that produced axes, scythes and other edged tools?  By the late 1800′s, Oakland was the axe and scythe capitol of the United States.  Howard Hardy of the Oakland Historical Society has a passion for collecting axes and scythes.  Lots of them.  He began collecting on a small scale over 20 years ago. This grew into doing research into the tool manufacturing process.  Each tool has a story behind it that Howard wanted to learn about and share with others. He is vice-president of the Oakland Historical Society. Please join us for this free presentation that is open to the public.
