DECADES is aired locally over the air on WABI-DT3, Channel 5.3.

Time Warner Cable provides WABI-DT3 on channels 5.3 and 1255, on systems serving the Bangor Nielsen Designated Market Area (Bangor DMA).

The channel is available via Moosehead Cable in Rockwood, Guilford, Monson and Greenville as a pass-through feed on channel 5.3, and on Bee Line Cable on channel 5-13. We have contacted other services and asked them to consider carriage of DECADES, as well.

Contact your local cable or satellite provider and ask them about their plans for DECADES.

If you receive channel 5.1 and 5.2, you are also able to receive channel 5.3. However, in some cases, it may be necessary to re-scan channels in order to add channel 5.3. Some viewers have reported that re-scanning has not added 5.3 to their line-up even though 5.1 and 5.2 do appear. In these cases, we have advised them to disconnect their antenna and scan again to clear the tuner memory, then to re-connect the antenna and scan again. In the cases we have addressed, this procedure has resolved the issue.

WABI-DT3 History
DECADES affiliate WABI-DT3 “soft-launched” on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at 2:30 PM (Eastern), a week before the official launch of October 1, 2015.  DECADES was showing the movie “The War Between Men and Women” (1972). The network was a half-hour into the film, which was followed by interstitial programming featuring classic commercials.

The first full program that aired on WABI-DT3 was an episode of M*A*S*H: #T420 – “Inga.” Mariette Hartley guest starred as a visiting Swedish surgeon. The episode aired at 4:00 PM. Other shows shown that day included The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Twilight Zone, and Mission: Impossible.

At some point that evening (exact time unknown), a satellite dish reception error resulted in a loss of video for several hours. A technical difficulties graphic was displayed during this time, with network audio still playing. While the video signal was recovered by morning, it was briefly lost again after 1:00 PM on Friday. The problem was diagnosed and all was fine from then on. Friday’s featured programming included the movie “The China Syndrome,” episodes of I Love Lucy and The Phil Silvers Show, additional episodes of M*A*S*H  and Mary Tyler Moore, and the network’s original program, Through the Decades.

Upon a successful “glitch-free” airing of the network’s “Binge Weekend” of multiple episodes of one show (That Girl, starring Marlo Thomas), WABI-DT3 continued to run uninterrupted as a new local station serving Eastern and Central Maine TV viewers.
