The work week starts off with highs today will be 15-20 degrees cooler than what we saw yesterday, topping out in the 50s and low 60s. It’ll be coolest north. We’ll see increasing clouds through this morning with some scattered showers likely especially in the afternoon and evening. Shower chances will continue into early Tuesday. Partly to Mostly Sunny & Pleasant This Afternoon

Todd Simcox

Updated 2 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

High pressure over the area will provide us with another nice day today. Low pressure moving northward from the Mid-Atlantic is pushing some scattered clouds into southern and coastal parts of Maine while the rest of the state is seeing a lot of sunshine. Despite seeing a few more clouds over southern and coastal areas today, sunshine is still expected to prevail in those spots. Temperatures will reach the upper 60s to low 70s inland and low 60s along the coast (due to an onshore breeze) for highs this afternoon. Skies will remain clear tonight with lows temperatures dropping to the mid-40s to low 50s. We may see some patchy fog tonight so keep that in mind if you plan on to be on the roads later tonight as you may encounter some reduced visibility in spots.

A cold front will continue to cross the state early this afternoon giving us some clouds and a few widely scattered sprinkles. Most cities/towns will stay dry but a few sprinkles cannot be ruled out.  Skies will gradually clear out from west to east as the afternoon progresses. Colder air behind the front will move into the state today with highs topping off in the mid-50s to near 60° north and low to mid-60s elsewhere. We will have clear skies and light winds tonight, allowing for a cold night across the stat. Many areas will see temperatures bottom out in the mid-20s to low 30s for nighttime lows. The National Weather Service has issued Freeze Watches and Freeze Warnings for parts of the state mainly away from the coast. That being said, if you have plant still outdoors or are still growing the late season garden, you’ll want to make sure you protect that stuff tonight as there will be widespread frost or freeze conditions especially from Bangor north and west.
