From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

The ridge of high pressure that brought the sunny and pleasant conditions to all of New England the past couple of days will slowly slip off to our east Saturday. As the ridge of high pressure drifts east it will still produce partly sunny skies across Maine Saturday, with high temps ranging from the upper 60s at the shoreline to mid 70s over most of interior Maine.

Chris Ewing

Updated 2 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

High pressure currently centered just to our west is producing sunny skies all across New England today. High temps in our area this afternoon will range from the upper 60s across the mountains to the low and mid 70s elsewhere. The ridge of high pressure will produce partly sunny skies across Maine Saturday, with high temps ranging from the low to mid 70s. On Sunday an approaching front will likely kick off some scattered showers later in the day and at night, with the bulk of the showers falling over northern parts of the state. The front will likely bring variably cloudy skies along with more scattered showers Monday as it stalls across Northern New England. A southwest breeze Sunday and Monday will usher a more humid airmass into our region and that means any pop-up showers that do develop might contain some heavy downpours.

Todd Simcox

Updated 2 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

A gusty northwest wind will continue to usher a cooler, less humid airmass into the region this afternoon. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds for the remainder of the day with most of the clouds over northern areas and more sunshine over areas further south towards the coast. Temperatures  will be in the 70s for highs in most spots with some mid to upper 60s north. An upper level disturbance will cross the state giving us a few showers mainly over the northern half of the state. Any lingering showers this evening will end early followed by clearing skies as the night progresses. It will be cool tonight with lows in the mid-40s to low 50s from north to south.

Few Showers Possible & Cooler Today, Sunny Friday

Jessica Conley

Updated 2 months ago

We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds today with the possibility for a few showers around too as an upper level disturbance moves through the area. Temps will be much cooler today, with highs mainly in the low to mid 70s, which is normal for this time of year. By Friday, high pressure builds back in giving us sunshine for the day with temperatures right around normal again. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds to start Saturday but showers move in later in the day and stick around for much of Sunday as a warm front and area of low pressure cross the region. It looks like we’ll see some steady rain Sunday night into early Monday. By Monday afternoon things clear up a bit. Terrible timing, I know.

Another Warm Day Today, Much Cooler Thursday

Todd Simcox

Updated 2 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

A cold front will cross the state today giving us the chance for a few scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Some of the thunderstorms could be strong to severe with small hail and gusty winds. The shower and thunderstorms are expected to be hit or miss so some areas may see a shower or thunderstorm and many areas likely won’t. Otherwise expect partly sunny skies and warm temperatures for the remainder of the day with highs, for most locales away from the coastline, topping off in the low to mid-80s while coastal areas stay in the mid to upper 70s due to an onshore wind. Winds will shift to the northwest tonight as the cold front moves offshore. We may see a few showers over northern areas tonight as an upper level disturbance approaches from the northwest.

Skies will start out mostly sunny in most locales today but clouds will increase across Maine from north to south as a cold front over southern Canada moves into northern New England during the day. A southwest breeze ahead of the cold front will once again allow temps to warm into the 80s away from the coastline. The cold front will bring the chance of scattered showers and thundershowers back to our area this afternoon and evening.

The high to our north will slowly settle south over the weekend and early next week. The high will bring partly to mostly sunny skies to Maine today and mostly sunny skies Sunday through Wednesday. As the high settles to our south a southwest breeze will develop all across New England and that will cause temps to warm back up to above normal levels. A cold front approaching Maine from the north will bring an increased risk of scattered showers to our region later Thursday into Friday.

Brighter & Milder this Weekend

Chris Ewing

Updated 2 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

A ridge of high pressure currently centered over Quebec is forcing a weak storm over New York State to take a track off to the south of New England tonight and early tomorrow. With the storm sliding southeast of our region most of its precipitation will also slip off to our south, but a weak disturbance aloft riding through New England tonight will help kick off a few hit and miss showers across the Pine Tree State, but most locals will stay rain-free this evening. Low temps tonight throughout our region will hold in the low to mid 50s.

Todd Simcox

An upper level disturbance crossing the region today will give us variably cloudy skies this afternoon along with the chance for a few more widely scattered showers. With clouds in place and a cooler northeast wind, temperatures will run near or a little below average with highs mainly in the low to mid-70s. Any showers that develop will wind down this evening followed by partial clearing as high pressure builds in from the north. Nighttime lows will drop to the low to mid-50s for most locales with a few spots up north possible cooling into the upper 40s.

Few Hit & Miss Showers Today, Bright & Milder Over the Weekend

Chris Ewing

Updated 2 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

Nearly stationary high pressure currently centered to the north of New England will force much of the moisture associated with a storm riding east from the eastern Great Lakes Region to slide off to the south of Maine today. The northern fringe of the storm’s moisture shield will interact with upper level energy and bring scattered showers to parts of our region today with the bulk of the hit and miss showers falling over southern and central parts of Maine. The high to our north will keep the skies brightest north of the Bangor region today. High temps today will range from the upper 60s along the coast to the low to mid 70s inland.

Variably Cloudy & Slightly Cooler the Next Few Days

Chris Ewing

Updated 2 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

High pressure to our north will force a series of weak storms to pass offshore well south of Maine as they move from the Ohio River Valley to well off the Mid-Atlantic Coastline today through Saturday. With the storm track later this week remaining well south of Maine the skies across our region should average partly sunny and temps will run in the 70s to near 80 this afternoon and be a bit cooler Friday and Saturday as a slightly cooler airmass filters south into New England from the Canadian Maritimes. A northeast breeze late this week will keep the temps coolest along the coastline both Friday and Saturday. A couple of weak disturbances aloft today through Saturday will keep the atmosphere a bit unstable and that could lead to a few widely scattered showers popping up across the Pine Tree State, but most towns will likely not see them. The best chance for seeing a brief shower or two over the next couple of days will be over the western parts of Maine.

Mix of Sun & Clouds Today and Friday, Nice Weekend Ahead

Todd Simcox

Updated 2 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

A weakening storm system over the Great Lakes region will push some clouds into our area today and Friday. Each of the days will also feature a slight chance of a widely scattered afternoon shower or thunderstorm however the thinking is that the chances are very minimal and that most locales will remain dry. That being said, today and tomorrow will be pretty good days overall featuring more clouds than we’ve seen the past few days. With more clouds in place today, temperatures will be a bit cooler today with highs in the 70s to near 80°. Friday’s temperatures will be even cooler due to the clouds and a cooler northeast wind, expect highs in the low to mid-70s Friday afternoon.
