Warm Today, Cooler Weekend but Sunny

Jessica Conley

Updated 10 months ago

A weak backdoor cold front will cross the state today bringing some clouds to the area this evening. Besides that, we’ll have mostly sunny skies with high pressure still in the region. Temperatures today will be mild and quite warm (about 10 degrees above normal) ahead of the front, but as it crosses the state from northeast to southwest temps will cool off. Tomorrow, the high pressure system to our north will keep us mostly sunny for the day. A few morning clouds are possible though as the cold front exits the area. Temperatures will be right around normal highs. By Sunday it’s all sunshine for us. Temperatures around normal are expected again. Monday will start out with sun then have increasing clouds as a weak cold front approaches from the west. By Monday night a couple isolated showers are possible, but it looks like most of us will just see clouds. Tuesday will become mostly sunny again.

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

High pressure centered over Northern New England will bring generally fair skies to our region tonight and Friday. The high will once again keep the storm currently located off the North Carolina Coastline stalled to our south the next several days. The airmass over Maine will continue to warm tomorrow and that will allow the temps here to run well above normal as highs reach the mid 60s to low 70s throughout most of our region.

More Sun than Clouds & Mild Thursday

Chris Ewing

Updated 10 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

The ridge of high pressure that produced the pleasant conditions across Maine that past few days will continue to control the weather in our region tomorrow and Friday. The high will bring mostly clear skies to our region tonight and that along with a light wind will allow temps to dip into the mid 30s to low 40s by daybreak tomorrow. Skies tomorrow and Friday will range from mostly to partly sunny, with the bulk of the clouds being found over southernmost Maine. The clouds over the southern part of the state the next couple of days will be associated with a storm located off the Mid-Atlantic Coastline. Showers associated with the storm off to our south will likely move up into Southern New England later tomorrow and Friday, but should remain well south of our region.

Sunny & Breezy Rest of Today, Great Stretch Ahead

Todd Simcox

Updated 10 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

The cold front that brought us the wet and windy weather last night continues to move away from the state. Skies will average partly to mostly sunny for the rest of the day with the bulk of the clouds lingering in the mountains and more sunshine elsewhere. Slightly cooler air moving in behind the front will give us seasonable temperatures with highs in the mid-50s to low 60s for most spots this afternoon. Winds have remained a bit stronger than expected too so I’ve increased the winds to 10-20 MPH with gusts to 25-30 MPH possible through the afternoon. The winds will diminish as we get closer to sunset. Clear skies and light winds will make for a chilly night tonight with nighttime lows expected to drop to the 30s to around 40°.

We’ll see more high clouds moving across the state today with sunshine mixed in. It’ll be a dry day so it’s a decent start to the weekend. Temperatures will be a bit cooler with highs in the 60s this afternoon. Low pressure moving through the Great Lakes will pull a warm front northward towards Maine on Sunday giving us a chance for some afternoon showers especially from Bangor south and west. High pressure will hang on to our northeast keeping northern and eastern areas dry and giving them the best chance for a little sunshine Sunday. Temperatures for Sunday will be cool with highs in the 50s to around 60°. The warm front will lift northward through the state Sunday night and early Monday bringing us more widespread shower activity on its way through. We’ll start Monday with some showers during the morning then things should start to dry out a bit during the afternoon as the warm front lifts to our north. We may see some breaks in the clouds during the afternoon as well. With the warm front to our north, temperatures will warm up a bit with highs expected to reach the mid-60s to around 70° Monday afternoon. Nice Again Friday, Some Clouds Saturday

Jessica Conley

Updated 10 months ago

The high pressure system that has brought more nice weather yesterday will keep us sunny for today. We’ll see a weak warm front approach the area and bring a few more clouds in for Saturday and into the day on Sunday. By Sunday afternoon we’ll see some showers develop in the area, just ahead of a low pressure system. The low will bring us more rain for the day on Monday. At this time it looks like the remnants of what is currently Tropical Storm Karen will stay to our south early next week so as along as that remains the case then we should start to dry things out on Tuesday.
Temperatures will stay mild for Friday, although will be a couple degrees cooler than Thursday. Saturday’s highs will cool off even more. By Sunday temperatures return to about normal (upper 50s and low 60s). They’ll become a bit milder by Monday and Tuesday after the warm front crosses the region.
Today: Highs in the mid to upper 60s and low 70s with partly to mostly sunny skies. Overnight lows in the 40s with partly cloudy skies.
