Partly Sunny & Mild Today, Showers & More Humid Sunday

Chris Ewing

Updated 5 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

A ridge of high pressure moving east across Southern New England will continue to control the conditions across Maine today as it slides eastward. A disturbance aloft swinging across Southeastern Canada might kick off a few widely scattered showers or storms this afternoon, mostly across far northern parts of Maine, but otherwise the weather should be fair and pleasant. Clouds will begin to gradually build into New England later Saturday evening as the high slips off to our southeast. High temps today will range from the upper 70s to the low 80s all across the Pine Tree State.

Updated 5 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

The shower activity has come to an end for most locations with the exception of coastal Downast cities/towns where some showers still linger as of noontime. The showers will continue to move out early this afternoon and we’ll continue to see skies brighten from northwest to southeast across the state (where they haven’t already) as drier air moves in. Dewpoints will continue falling into the mid-40s to mid-50s (where they haven’t already) this afternoon giving us a much more comfortable feel to the air. Skies will be clear tonight with comfortable humidity levels and cool temperatures. Temperatures will bottom out in the mid-40s to mid-50s from north to south.

Scattered Showers & T’storms Likely This Afternoon, Some Possibly Severe

Todd Simcox

Updated 5 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

Hazy sunshine, very warm and humid conditions will continue this afternoon. Temperatures will top off around 80° along the coast and mid-80s to around 90° inland. A strong cold front will cross the state this afternoon and evening. The front will interact with the heat and humidity giving us a good chance for showers and thunderstorms. Some of the thunderstorms could be strong to severe with frequent lightning, heavy downpours, damaging winds and hail. Showers and thunderstorms are already developing near the Maine/Quebec border as of noontime and will gradually push southward towards Bangor by mid-late afternoon and finally towards the coast by evening. The front is expected to stall out just offshore tonight as an area of low pressure develops along the front. This will keep clouds and some scattered showers over areas south of Greenville and Millinocket through the nighttime hours while areas further north see clearing skies as the night progresses.

Hazy & Humid, with Scattered Strong Storms Later Today

Chris Ewing

Updated 5 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

Skies will start out partly to mostly sunny today and temps will quickly warm into the 80s across most of Maine by noontime. An approaching cold front will interact will the warm, muggy and unstable airmass over our region later today and that will lead to developing thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. The thunderstorms will slide from northwest to southeast across Maine today as the cold front sweeps southeast across New England later in the day. The combination of the unstable airmass on top of our region and the sharp cold front entering Maine will likely allow some of the storms to become strong to severe this afternoon and evening. The main threat from the thunderstorms are a strong and gusty wind, along with hail.

Bright, Warm & Becoming Humid Tuesday

Chris Ewing

Updated 5 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

The ridge of high pressure that brought the mostly sunny and mild conditions to Maine today will continue to control the weather across New England tomorrow. As the high slowly settles southeast of our region a south to southwesterly breeze will develop across Maine tomorrow and continue on Wednesday. The southwest breeze will pull an increasingly warm and more humid airmass up into our area over the next couple of days. The high will keep the skies across Maine mostly sunny tomorrow, with high temps climbing well up into the 80s over interior Maine, with slightly cooler temps being found along the coastline.

Sun For Today & Tomorrow, Rain Comes Wednesday Afternoon

Jessica Conley

Updated 5 months ago

For the day today we’ll see a bit more sun than yesterday with highs in the low 70s at the coast and in the upper 70s and low 80s inland. The high creates southerly flow at the coast so air coming off the water will help to keep temps there about 10° cooler than just slightly inland locations. By tomorrow a new area of high pressure will develop to our south and should be enough to keep us partly to mostly sunny for the day. Highs will be a bit warmer, in the mid 70s at the coast and in the mid 80s inland. It’ll become more humid tomorrow too.

Sunshine Sticks Around for a While

Jessica Conley

Updated 5 months ago

We’ll see mainly clear skies with a bit of haze out there for the rest of the evening and through the overnight hours. We are seeing some smoke being filtered into our region from wildfires in Canada (hence the hazy forecast). By tomorrow, we’ll have partly to mostly sunny skies with highs inland making it into the upper 70s and low 80s and highs at the coast in the low 70s. The high pressure system that kept us with sunshine today will be moving offshore and to the north and east. Monday will be very similar to Sunday with a mix of sun and clouds from the ridge of high pressure that’ll extend into our area from the high that’s well off to our north and east.

Bright, Pleasant & Warm Saturday

Chris Ewing

Updated 5 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

The ridge of high pressure that brought the bright and pleasant weather to Maine Friday will continue to produce pleasant conditions across our region today. Plan on mostly sunny skies and warm temps as the high slowly slides east across New England today. High temps Today will range from the upper 70s at the coastline to the low to mid 80s inland. The high will slip off to our east Sunday, while at the same time energy in the upper atmosphere causes a small storm to develop off the Mid-Atlantic Coastline. The small storm will slowly move northeast later Sunday through Monday. At this point in time it appears the small storm will stay just far enough offshore to keep its rain shield offshore. If the storm comes a little closer to New England than is currently projected we will see more clouds and possibly a few scattered showers over eastern parts of Maine later Sunday into early Monday, but that scenario seem unlikely at this point in time.

Brighter & Drier Today, Nice Stretch Ahead

Todd Simcox

Updated 5 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

Drier and brighter weather on tap for today.  The cold front that brought us all the rain yesterday continues to move away from the region and skies will continue to brighten from west to east across the state this afternoon. High temperatures will reach the mid-70s to low 80s this afternoon. We may see a few isolated showers popping up this afternoon as an upper level disturbance approaches from the north and west however the chances look very minimal so most locales will likely stay dry. Less humid air will gradually move in during the day as well making for a more comfortable feel to the air by later in the day. Skies be clear to partly cloudy tonight and we’ll have much better sleeping weather in place as the less humid, more comfortable continues to move in. Temperatures will drop back to the low to mid-50s for nighttime lows.
