From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

The nice weather continues today as high pressure slides just east of the area. We’ll see plenty of sunshine and another mild day for today. Temperatures will top off above average with highs mainly in the 70s to near 80°. Coastal areas may stay in the upper 60s with a sea breeze developing during the afternoon. High pressure remains in control Monday giving us a mild and dry day. There will be some increasing clouds during the afternoon as a cold front approaches from the north and west. The front is expected to move southward into Maine Monday night and could give us a few showers as it comes in. Clouds will be more prevalent on Tuesday as low pressure moves out of the Great Lakes region and towards western Quebec. Tuesday looks dry at this point but will be cooler with highs in the mid-60s to around 70°. Wet weather returns to the forecast Wednesday and Thursday as low pressure moves into New England.

Bright & Milder Today

Chris Ewing

Updated 5 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

High pressure will sit on top of New England today and bring the entire state a good deal of sunshine. Under mostly sunny skies and after a very cool start to the day the temps will warm back up to the mid 60s to low 70s which is normal for the later part of May, with the coolest readings being found along the coastline. Another upper level disturbance and surface storm will drift into New England later Friday from southern Canada and bring a fresh round of showers to our region. The showers should taper off later Friday night or Saturday morning as the upper low continues to drift off to the southeast of New England and high pressure approaches our region from the west. High pressure moving into the Northeast should bring bright skies and mild temps to all of the Pine Tree State Sunday. The high will produce fair skies across Maine early Monday, but an approaching weak cold front might kick off some showers here later in the day.

Few Showers Early Then Clearing, Sunny Thursday

Jessica Conley

Updated 5 months ago

The forecast becomes rather simple (and nice!) for the next five days. We saw a showers move through overnight, some of which were more along the lines of steady rain at times. We’ll see a few of these showers lingering today as the low continues to move to the east. A ridge of high pressure is building in for this afternoon and that will help to clear us out. Highs today will be a bit below seasonable temps, in the upper 50s and low 60s.

Northern Maine will likely remain partly cloudy tonight, with low temps falling into the chilly 30s north of the Millinocket region.

Variably Cloudy, Scattered Showers, & Cooler Today

Todd Simcox

Updated 5 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

The cold front that brought us scattered showers and some strong to severe thunderstorms during our Memorial Day sits to our south this morning. Cooler air will move in behind the front making for a much cooler day today with below average temperatures expected for highs. We’ll see partly to mostly cloudy skies today with highs only a couple degrees either side of 60°. An area of low pressure is forecast to drop southward from southwestern Quebec down through New York State during the day. This will give us a chance for scattered showers mainly for areas from Bangor south and west while areas to the north and east see drier and brighter weather. Clouds will remain with us through the night tonight along with the chance for a few scattered showers.

We had some very strong and severe thunderstorms roll through portions of the state today. At this hour, we are still seeing some severe thunderstorm warnings. Please take these warnings seriously as cloud to ground lightning has accompanied these storms along with some hail. There was also a small funnel cloud in the Presque Isle area. You can see a video of it on my Facebook page at: ((https://www.facebook.com/MeteorologistJessicaConley))

Variably Cloudy, Scattered Showers/T’storms & Warmer Today

Todd Simcox

Updated 5 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

A warm front will move to our east this morning allowing a warmer airmass to move into the state for today. Temperatures will top off in the 70s to near 80° in many locations today with slightly cooler temperatures along the coast due to an onshore breeze and cooler over the far north where cooler air will start to move in. Low pressure is forecast to drop southward across the state this afternoon dragging a cold front behind it. This will give us a chance for some scattered showers and even a few thunderstorms this afternoon. Some of the thunderstorms could produce some gusty winds and even some small. These showers and thunderstorms will be scattered so some locales may see some and some locales may not. That being said, I wouldn’t cancel any outdoor plans you may have for today but keep in mind you may have some showers to dodge at times.

Tonight we’ll see partly to mostly cloudy skies with some isolated showers developing, especially west.

Monday looks mostly cloudy and rainy with the chance for thunderstorms too. The good news is that these will be fairly scattered. Also highs tomorrow will range from the upper 60s to the upper 70s since we’ll be on the ‘good’ side of the warm front. As the cold front moves through for Tuesday, temps will drop. Highs Tuesday will only make it into the 50s with some showers, especially along the front.

Variably Cloudy, Few Showers Next Few Days

Todd Simcox

Updated 5 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

Low pressure at the surface and in the upper levels of the atmosphere spinning near Newfoundland will combine with upper level energy passing south and west of New England to give us the chance for a few scattered showers today. There is still plenty of moisture in the atmosphere which will result in a good amount of cloudiness with some sunshine mixed in so expect a variably cloudy sky throughout the day. Temperatures will top in the 60s over the interior while coastal areas see cooler highs in the upper 50s to near 60° due to an onshore breeze. Expect a quiet night tonight with variably cloudy skies and a few isolated showers possible.

Mix of Sun & Clouds Each Day with Afternoon Showers

Jessica Conley

The good news is the Memorial Day Weekend forecast doesn’t looks horrible. The bad news is that it doesn’t look spectacular either. This weekend is known to many as the unofficial start of summer but it looks like this summer will start just kind of “eh”.

Plenty of Clouds, Few Showers Next Few Days

Low pressure at the surface and in the upper levels of the atmosphere will move out of the Great Lakes Region and approach New England today. Otherwise we’ll see plenty of clouds today with a few breaks of sunshine mixed in. Temperatures will top off mainly in the 60s today with some upper 50s along the coast due to an onshore breeze developing. Clouds will stick around through the night tonight with patchy fog and a few isolated showers.

Limited Sun, with a Few Scattered Showers the Next Three Days

Chris Ewing

Updated 5 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

A new storm both at the surface and aloft will swing into the Upstate New York today then slowly slide southeast Friday before drifting off the Mid-Atlantic Coastline Saturday. The storm will bring another round of scattered showers to much of the Pine Tree State beginning today and likely lasting into Saturday. With the surface and upper level lows passing by to our south the steadiest and heaviest showers will likely fall over Southern New England. The combination of clouds, scattered showers and an onshore breeze will likely keep the temps in our region running a bit below normal.

A Bit Drier, Brighter, & Milder Today, More Showers Thursday

Todd Simcox

Updated 5 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

The upper level low pressure system that has been plaguing our weather the past couple of days will continue to move away from New England today. We’ll see some moisture wrapping around the backside of the departing low giving us some clouds and a few widely scattered showers today. A weak ridge of high pressure will build into the state today which will help give us a better chance for some sunny breaks throughout the day and keep the shower chances minimal so overall plan on a drier, slightly brighter and milder day than we’ve seen the past few days. Temperatures will top off in the mid-60s in most locales this afternoon with slightly cooler temperatures closer to and along the coast due to an onshore breeze developing this afternoon.
