Wet, Breezy & Mild Today, Sun Returns Wednesday

Todd Simcox

Updated 4 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

The heaviest rain has shifted east of the state and we’ll hang on to clouds and some scattered showers through the afternoon and evening hours. The strongest winds have shifted east too so expect wind speeds averaging between 5-15 MPH for the remainder of the day. The National Weather Service continues the Flood Watch for Southern Piscataquis, Central and Southern Penobscot, Hancock and Washington Counties through late tonight to account for the potential of some minor flooding especially in poor drainage areas and some area rivers and streams as a result of the combination of snowmelt and rainfall. Despite the clouds and rain, temperatures will still reach the upper 40s to mid-50s for highs. Any lingering showers will wind down early tonight followed by clearing skies late.

Blustery with Rain Today

Chris Ewing

Updated 4 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

Low pressure will move up into southwestern Quebec tomorrow afternoon. With the storm passing up to our west this morning, Maine will be on the milder side of the storm and that means most if not all the precipitation will fall as rain across the Pine Tree State. Rainfall will likely range from .50″ to 1.5″ across our area and that along with melting snow could lead to some localized flooding, especially near streams and rivers. There is also the possibility of ice jams forming on some of the rivers and streams up north as the milder air and rain help break up some of the thick ice that still covers those waterways. A gusty southerly wind will pull a rather mild airmass into New England Tuesday and despite clouds and rain showers temperatures will climb into the upper 40s to mid 50s in our region.

Maine will be on the milder side of the storm as it passes up to our west and that means most if not all the precipitation will fall as rain across our region later tonight and part of Tuesday.
