Todd Simcox

Updated 6 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

Low pressure at the surface and in the upper levels of the atmosphere spinning near Newfoundland will combine with upper level energy passing south and west of New England to give us the chance for a few scattered showers today. There is still plenty of moisture in the atmosphere which will result in a good amount of cloudiness with some sunshine mixed in so expect a variably cloudy sky throughout the day. Temperatures will top in the 60s over the interior while coastal areas see cooler highs in the upper 50s to near 60° due to an onshore breeze. Expect a quiet night tonight with variably cloudy skies and a few isolated showers possible.

Low pressure at the surface and in the upper levels of the atmosphere will move out of the Great Lakes Region and approach New England today. Otherwise we’ll see plenty of clouds today with a few breaks of sunshine mixed in. Temperatures will top off mainly in the 60s today with some upper 50s along the coast due to an onshore breeze developing. Clouds will stick around through the night tonight with patchy fog and a few isolated showers.

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

A new storm both at the surface and aloft will swing into the Upstate New York today then slowly slide southeast Friday before drifting off the Mid-Atlantic Coastline Saturday. The storm will bring another round of scattered showers to much of the Pine Tree State beginning today and likely lasting into Saturday. With the surface and upper level lows passing by to our south the steadiest and heaviest showers will likely fall over Southern New England. The combination of clouds, scattered showers and an onshore breeze will likely keep the temps in our region running a bit below normal.

A Bit Drier, Brighter, & Milder Today, More Showers Thursday

Todd Simcox

Updated 6 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

The upper level low pressure system that has been plaguing our weather the past couple of days will continue to move away from New England today. We’ll see some moisture wrapping around the backside of the departing low giving us some clouds and a few widely scattered showers today. A weak ridge of high pressure will build into the state today which will help give us a better chance for some sunny breaks throughout the day and keep the shower chances minimal so overall plan on a drier, slightly brighter and milder day than we’ve seen the past few days. Temperatures will top off in the mid-60s in most locales this afternoon with slightly cooler temperatures closer to and along the coast due to an onshore breeze developing this afternoon.

Chris Ewing

Updated 6 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

As both the surface and upper level storms continue to slide southeast today slightly drier air will work into New England. The drier air will allow fewer showers to pop up today and a few breaks in the overcast may develop as the day moves along. The combination of fewer showers and slightly brighter skies will allow temps to run a bit above today’s chilly readings as highs climb into the upper 50s to mid 60s. A weak ridge of high pressure will bring generally dry conditions to our region Wednesday. Skies will range from partly cloudy to cloudy Wednesday and high temps will run in the 60s.

Todd Simcox

Updated 6 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

The slow moving frontal system will remain to our west today allowing for a repeat of yesterday’s weather. High pressure is positioned east of New England and will continue to give us a southerly breeze setting us up with another milder day today as temperatures are expected to top off near or above average in most locales with the coolest temperatures occurring along the coast due to the onshore wind. Average high temperatures for this time of year should be in the low to mid-60s.Highs will top off in the 60s and 70s across the interior while coastal areas will see highs closer to 60°. Expect lots of low clouds and patchy fog this morning to give way to variably cloudy skies by late morning through the afternoon from north to south across the state. The last areas to see any brightening of the sky will be coastal areas and that probably won’t happen until later in the afternoon. Variably Cloudy & Mild Today

Chris Ewing

Updated 6 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

The combination of strong high pressure centered east of New England and a cold front slowly moving east through the Ohio River Valley will continue to bring Maine a mild and moist southerly airflow right into Saturday. The moist southerly wind will give us low clouds and patchy fog to start the day today, which will then slowly burn off as the day progresses, first inland and then later along the coastline. Over the next few days the southerly breeze will keep temps across Maine coolest along the coastline, with highs in the mid 60s to mid 70s inland, but only near 60 at the shoreline.

More Clouds than Sun & Milder the Next Few Days

Chris Ewing

Updated 7 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

As a warm front currently west of New England lifts to our north today, a southerly breeze will develop all along the Eastern Seaboard and temps will warm up across our region, with the coolest temps being found along the shoreline the next several days. A slowly moving cold front and an upper level disturbance will likely produce on and off showers across all of New England this weekend, with the bulk of the showers being found over western New England Saturday and eastern New England Sunday. The front and an upper level low will likely stall across the Northeast later in the weekend and early next week and that will keep the Pine Tree State mostly cloudy and showery through the first part of the workweek. The combination of clouds, showers and an onshore breeze will hold temps below normal early next week.

More Clouds than Sun, with a Few Scattered Showers Today

Chris Ewing

Updated 7 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

A disturbance aloft will ride along an approaching warm front today. The disturbance will bring the risk of a few showers to our region today with the bulk of the shower activity being located over far northern and western parts of Maine. As the warm front lifts to our north on Thursday a southerly breeze all along the Eastern Seaboard will bring milder temps to New England for the later part of the workweek despite the skies featuring more clouds than sun, with even a few showers popping up from time to time. A slow moving front and upper level disturbance will likely produce on and off showers across all of New England as we start the weekend Saturday. The front and an upper level low will likely stall across the Northeast later in the weekend and early next week and that will lead to our area seeing limited sunshine, with periods of showers likely falling throughout New England Sunday through Tuesday.
