Updated 6 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

Low pressure centered south of Nova Scotia will continue to slowly pull away from the region today. Moisture wrapping around the departing storm will keep us under the clouds with a few widely scattered showers for the remainder of the daylight hours. Northerly winds will remain breezy today with low pressure to our east and high pressure building in from the north and west. With the clouds, showers and northerly wind in our forecast today, temperatures will remain a bit below average this afternoon with highs in the mid-40s to mid-50s. High pressure will build into the area beginning tonight and help to gradually clear us out during the nighttime hours.

A Couple Showers Tonight & Tomorrow, Sunny Tuesday

Jessica Conley

Updated 6 months ago

That (s)low (a slow moving low… get it?) we talked about yesterday is still really taking its time. It’s allowing some showers to be thrown back into the area today. At 3pm Augusta was even seeing heavy rain. We will have the chance for a few isolated showers tonight, and could again see some wet flakes mixing in, especially in the mountains and higher elevations. We’ll see the chance for a few into the morning tomorrow too. Tomorrow will become pretty breezy as a ridge of high pressure nudges itself into the region from Canada. It’ll make us breezy tomorrow but bright by Tuesday. It’ll stay mostly sunny when you wake up Wednesday. Another low moves into the area for Thursday. That’ll bring us some fairly steady rain for the day. Things start to clear out by Friday.

A slow moving low pressure system will continue to move, ever so slowly, away from the region. We’ll see the light precipitation changing over to all rain Sunday as highs warm into the upper 40s and low 50s. Things will taper off as we head into this evening. It’ll become a bit breezy today too, with winds from the north at 10 – 15 mph.

Rain Showers Or Even A Few Flakes Tonight & Tomorrow

Jessica Conley

Updated 6 months ago

Well, by now you probably know my favorite phrase of the winter, “I’m just the messenger!!!” (It also helps to say it with a smile!) I’ll be using that one again tonight as we have the possibility for a few wet snowflakes and even up to an inch of accumulation in Northern Maine. Temps will fall to the 32 to 38 degree range. And while I bet you’re thinking, well as long as we’re above 32 we should be good. Almost. Those are the surface temperatures, and while it’s quite helpful to have them above 32 degrees to avoid snow, if temps just above the surface are colder, we could still see some wet snowflakes. As you may have guessed, this is exactly the setup for tonight. Ugh! I know, I know; it’s almost May!

Brighter, Less Wind & Milder Today

Chris Ewing

Updated 6 months ago

From the WABI-Tv5 & CW Forecast Center:

High pressure will move across the Northeast today and bring brighter and milder conditions to Maine as we end the workweek, with high temperatures running in the 50s to around 60. Another slow moving and intensifying storm both at the surface and aloft will move through New England over the weekend and once again produce another round of on and off showers later Saturday and likely Sunday as well. The combination of the slow moving storm system off the New England Coastline and strong high pressure centered over Hudson Bay early next week will bring blustery and chilly conditions to Maine for the first couple of days of the workweek. How close the storm to our east is to New England early next week will determine whether conditions in Maine are wet or mostly dry Monday and Tuesday.

Wet, Windy & Cool Today, Sun Returns Friday

Todd Simcox

Updated 6 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

Moisture wrapping around low pressure slowly passing to the south of Nova Scotia will provide us with clouds and occasional rain/showers this afternoon. Temperatures will be cold enough through early afternoon for precipitation to fall as some snow or mixed rain/snow over northern areas especially over the higher elevations. The rain will be steadiest from Bangor north and east. Areas south and west of Bangor should stay dry mainly dry and have the chance for some breaks of sunshine developing this afternoon especially late. Temperatures will be below average today with highs in the mid-40s to low 50s this afternoon and feeling cooler with a strong north/northwest wind factored in. With strengthening low pressure to our south and east and high pressure building in from the west, the pressure gradient will be fairly tight overhead resulting in a north/northwest wind around 15-30 MPH throughout the day. Lingering showers will move out early tonight followed by clearing skies as high pressure builds in. Temperatures will drop back to the upper 20s to mid-30s for nighttime lows.

Scattered Showers, Blustery Today

Chris Ewing

Updated 6 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

Moisture wrapping around low pressure to our south and east will continue to bring scattered showers to our region today, with the bulk of the showers falling over the eastern portions of Maine. As the storm intensifies today, a strong and gusty northwest breeze will develop across New England and once again a much cooler than normal airmass will slide southeast into our region from southern Canada. Temps throughout Maine will run below normal today as highs hold in the mid 40s to low 50s in our region and the gusty wind will make it feel even cooler.

We’ll see some rain showers during the day today as a low pressure system moves through the area. Rain will continue tonight as the low will move very slowly to the north and east. It looks like showers will linger into early Thursday morning, but by Thursday afternoon things will have a chance to clear up as the low exits the area. Thursday will be quite breezy as well with winds from the north at 20-25 mph gusting as high as 35 mph. By Friday we’ll see sunshine return to the area with temps slightly above seasonable levels (mid to upper 50s). Saturday looks to have mostly cloudy skies with highs in the upper 40s and low 50s with scattered showers developing. Sunday will be cloudy with scattered showers again as the second low struggles to move out of our area.

On & Off Showers Tonight & Wednesday

Chris Ewing

Updated 6 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

A storm system both at the surface and aloft will swing southeast across Northern New England tonight and then slowly ride east through the Gulf of Maine tomorrow. The storm will bring occasional showers to all of Maine tonight, with more on and off showers likely tomorrow. Despite the storm slowly moving east of our region Wednesday it will be intensifying later tomorrow  and that will allow more rain to wrap around the backside of the storm, which will keep conditions unsettled across the eastern parts of Maine right into Thursday morning. The combination of clouds and showers will keep temps cooler than normal tomorrow as high temps hold in the upper 40s to mid 50s across our area. As the storm continues to pull away from our region Thursday a strong and gusty wind on its west side will usher another unseasonably cool airmass into New England and once again temps will run below normal as highs hold in the mid 40s to low 50s throughout eastern and central Maine.
