Still Showery Today, Brighter & Warmer Weekend Ahead

Todd Simcox

Updated 5 months ago

From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

Showers will remain in our forecast today as low pressure centered to our east this morning continues to pull away from the region combines with an area of low pressure crossing through the state. We’ll see plenty of clouds and scattered showers from Bangor points north and east. Showers will be more widely scattered for cities and towns south and west of Bangor and these areas will also have the best chance to see some sunny breaks during the day today. Over the past few days, we’ve had to deal with a cool southeast wind but today winds will be from the northwest which will allow temperatures to warm up a bit today and will also dry things out enough for some breaks of sunshine  over areas south and west of Bangor. Temperatures today will be more seasonable with highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s this afternoon. Showers will wind down this evening with skies gradually clearing out from west to east across the state as the night progresses. Eastern areas will likely see clouds hang tough through night with clearing happening over much of the rest of the state.

An upper level low pressure system will move through southern Quebec towards Maine today keeping us under the clouds and scattered showers throughout the day. We’re also watching an area of low pressure passing to our south during the day. This second area of low pressure will be close enough to bring some steadier rain into cities and towns near the coast and up into interior Downeast locales this afternoon and evening. We have another cool day on tap thanks to the clouds and showers with temperatures remaining below average with highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s this afternoon. We’ll see a few showers scattered about during the night tonight along with some patchy fog as well.

Occasional Showers & Cool Today

Chris Ewing

Updated 5 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

A weakening cold front over the area will keep the conditions a bit unsettled all across Maine today. A surface storm and disturbance aloft will also swing into the Northeast tomorrow. An area of steadier rain will accompany the storm as it tracks off towards the northeast. The bulk of the rain will remain offshore but the northern fringe will likely graze coastal and Downeast Maine later this afternoon and evening. Mostly Cloudy with Scattered Showers & Cooler the Next Three Days

Chris Ewing

Updated 5 months ago

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

A slow moving cold front will bring mostly cloudy skies to Maine today with an increased risk of showers as the day moves along. High temps will range from the upper 50s at the coastline to the 60s inland this afternoon. An upper level low pressure system along with the cold front will very slowly cross the Northeast Thursday and Friday and that will cause periods of showers to fall throughout New England both days. A surface storm developing along the approaching cold front may allow a period of heavier rain to develop across Maine beginning later Thursday night and continuing into early Friday mainly along the coast. The combination of clouds, showers and an onshore breeze will help hold high temps in the 60s both Thursday and Friday.
