There are always a few upsets in the high school basketball post season. That’s why they play the games. But some top seeded teams don’t seem as though anyone can stop them.Lets check in on the defending champs from Jonesport Beals. They were up against number eight Easton. And how about those Easton Bears…. the long shot. Hunter Turner gets the bucket on the followup. He had 21.They actually led in the 2nd quarter and they kept the lead in the 2nd half.Garet Beal did all he could, He scored 38 on Monday, but somehow Easton found answers…. The high school basketball tournament is underway, as teams fight for a spot in the semifinals starting tonight. Getting into the tournament itself…wasn’t easy. The squads that have made it really appreciate being there.Earlier this week, the prelim games narrowed the brackets down to eight boys teams and eight girls teams in each class. Teams fought hard for spots in the tourney. It really registered with the Winslow players how much it means to be in this tournament, the last one at the Bangor Auditorium.

The Bangor Auditorium has been the site of an incredible amount of thrilling games and amazing moments. However, in Part One of our series, “Bangor Auditorium Remembered,” Tim Throckmorton takes us back to one of the most boring games in the history of the building. It was 1994 and late in the regular season. John Bapst was playing Ellsworth and the final score of the game was 10-8.
