Husson Football Players Gain Regional Honors

Four ECFC players have been named to the 2014 New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England team. Husson first year running back John Smith and senior defensive back Stephan Dance were selected along with Castleton junior returner Kevin Alberque and Mount Ida junior defensive lineman Dom Spauling. Smith, who was named the ECFC Rookie of the Year, was the only first year played honored.

Anna Heise led Maine’s offense with a career high 17 points, followed by Lauren Bodine with 12.

Husson Football Season Ends in OT

The Husson University football fell to MIT in an NCAA First Round Playoff game by the score of 27-20 in overtime at the Winkin Complex on Saturday afternoon. Husson completes its season with an 8-2 record while MIT goes to 10-0.

The University of Maine’s defense kept #1 New Hampshire (10-1, 8-0 CAA) in check, forcing six Wildcat turnovers but fell in the end by a score of 20-12 on Saturday evening at Alfond Stadium.
