FORMER BANGOR HIGH AND UMAINE BASKETBALL PLAYER RITA SULLIVAN IS NOW AN ASSISTANT COACH AT UMAINE. CINCY BLODGETT HAS NAMED HER FORMER BLACK BEAR TEAMMATE AS ONE OF HER ASSISTANTS. SULLIVAN WAS A 1000 POINT SCORER IN HIGH SCHOOL AND A TWO TIME CAPTAIN AT UMAINE BEFORE GRADUATING IN 1995. BLODGETT WAS A FRESHMAN WHEN SULLIVAN WAS A SENIOR.

25 YEARS AGO MAINE BASEBALL WON TWO GAMES AT THE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES. THIS MAINE TEAM LOST TWICE TO MIAMI, THE EVENTUAL CHAMPION IN 1982.

IF MAINE HAD WON THAT 2nd GAME AGAINST MIAMI THEY WOULD HAVE PLAYED FOR THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

FORMER SOUTH PORTLAND, ST.JOE’S AND L-S-U PITCHER CHARLIE FURBUSH HAS SIGNED HIS FIRST PRO CONTRACT.

THE TIGERS GAVE THE LEFTY A $150,000 SIGNING BONUS, AND HE’LL REPORT TO THE TEAM’S NEW YORK-PENN LEAGUE TEAM IN ONEONTA, NEW YORK.

LEPAGE HAS RUN IN THE EVENT FOUR TIMES BUT NOT SINCE 1993. JEREMIE WHORFF WON LAST YEARS EVENT. 172 DRIVERS HAVE ALREADY SIGNED UP TO TRY TO QUALIFY FOR THIS YEARS EVENT WHICH IS THE BIGGEST STOCK CAR RACE IN MAINE.

THERE IS NEW LEGISLATION IN THE NCAA THAT MANDIDATES THAT THE MINIMUM SCHOLARSHIP WILL BE 33% OF A FULL RIDE.

THESES TROUT ARE A YEAR OLD AND ARE ABOUT 9-10 INCHES IN LENGTH… THE CATCH… YOU CAN ONLY BE 10 YEARS OLD OR YOUNGER TO FISH HERE…PLEASE RESPECT THE RULES AND TRY AND TAKE YOUR CHILD FISHING… THE GUYS AT THE FISH HATCHERY HOPE THESE WILL BE CAUGHT BECAUSE THEY ARE QUOTE UNQUOTE A DOMESTIC STRAIN OF BROOK TROUT.

LEE HEADMASTER BRUCE LINDBURGSAID THAT GUY IKPAH WAS DISMISSED IMMEDIATELY AND ASSED TO LEAVE CAMPUS.

IN MAKING THE TRIP HE’LL ALSO BRING AWARENESS TO HIS OWN PHYSICAL CHALLENGES. JACOB ONE DAY WOULD LIKE TO OPEN AN ADAPTIVE CENTER AND TEACH THE PHYSICALLY CHALLANGED HOW TO RIDE BIKES.

Jones Wins Bunyan

Ricky Jones won the 43rd Paul Bunyan amateur golf tournament Sunday shooting a final round 73 at Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono.

Jones beat Ross McGee by three shots after McGee posted a final round 74 today in the three day event.
