Sox Yanks…tonight

Updated 7 years ago

The Boston Red Sox see blood in the water when the
reeling New York Yankees come to town for a three game set.
After two months of baseball, the Red Sox are 13-and-a-half
games up on the Bronx Bombers, and have a commanding lead atop the
A-L East.
The troubles continue for the Yankees — from Alex Rodriguez’s
tabloid-sheet scandals to Jason Giambi’s latest injury. The slugger
will miss at least three weeks after tearing tissue in his left
foot while trotting around the bases on a home run.
Roger Clemens is coming back next week to try to right the
Yankees ship, but not before the Red Sox could gain more ground
with a series win in Fenway.
Knuckleballer Tim Wakefield goes for Boston tomorrow against
Chien-Ming Wang. Curt Schilling faces Mike Mussina in game two, and
Josh Beckett tries for ninth win without a loss against Andy
Pettite in the finale.
Another story line is Kevin Youkilis. He tries to extend his
22-game hitting streak.

Clemens Update

Updated 7 years ago

Roger Clemens will get at least one more minor
league start before joining the New York Yankees starting rotation.
The 44-year old will pitch Monday for the Yankees Triple-A
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre farm team against Toledo.
There was some thought that Clemens would join the Yankees after
his minor league start Wednesday, but he struggled in that outing
with Double-A Trenton. Clemens gave up three runs, six hits and
threw 102 pitches in five-and-a-third innings. He also walked four,
struck out five and threw a wild pitch.
