THE UMAINE FOOTBALL TEAM OF 1965 WILL HAVE A REUNION THIS FALL. THE TANGERINE BOWL TEAM THAT WENT 8-2 AND 5-0 IN CONFERENCE PLAY IS PLANNING A GET TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST BLACK BEAR HOME GAME OF THE SEASON.
ALL AMERICAN JOHN HUARD PLAYED ON THE TEAM AND HIS COMPANY IS PUTTING IN NEW FIELD TURF ON MORSE FIELD THIS SUMMER.

THE UNIVERSITY OF MAINE IS PARTING WAYS WITH SOFTBALL COACH STACEY SULLIVAN. THE ONLY COMMENT FROM THE UNIVERSITY TODAY IS THAT THEY ARE NOT SEEKING TO RENEW HER CONTRACT…..
IN HER FIRST YEAR SHE LED THE TEAM TO A SCHOOL RECORD 35 WINS ….THE FOLLOWING YEAR MAINE WAS TWO GAMES BELOW 500 AND THIS PAST SEASON MAINE HAD 11 WINS AND 39 LOSSES. THEY LOST THEIR FIRST 28 GAMES IN 2008.
UMAINE WILL BE LOOKING FOR A NEW SOFTBALL COACH.

VETERAN HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY COACH NORM GAGNE MAY BE DONE AT LEWISTON HIGH. THE FORMER WATERVILLE COACH HAS REFUSED TO SIGN AN EVALUATION THAT INCLUDES NEGITIVE COMMENTS FROM PARENTS CONCERNING PLAYING TIME AND OTHER COACHING DECISIONS.
GAGNE HAS WITHDRAWN HIS NAME FROM CONSIDERATION FOR NEXT YEAR WHILE HE CONSIDERS HIS OPTIONS.

ONE SMALL AREA ON THE TRACK WAS STILL SOFT, BUT THAT WAS DUG UP TODAY.
SLOW DRYING HAS CANCELLED 14 OF 15 RACE DATES.

PAUL VACHON IS THE NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR AT CONY HIGH SCHOOL. HE’LL GIVE UP TEACHING ENGLISH AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND THE NEXT BIG QUESTION IS WHETHER HE’LL CONTINUE THE JOB FOR WHICH HE’S BEST KNOWN.
VACHON HAS BEEN VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH FOR THE LAST 23 YEARS AT CONY AND HIS TEAMS HAVE WON SEVEN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. HIS CONY PROGRAM IS ONE THAT HAS BEEN EMULATED ACROSS THE REGION.

BIG DOINGS IN FAIRFIELD FOR MIKE MCGEE OF LAWRENCE HIGH SCHOOL… THE LONG TIME BASKETBALL COACH WAS HONORED BY USA WEEKEND AS ONE OF THE MOST CARING COACHES IN THE COUNTRY…..STUDENTS GATHERED IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOL GYM WHERE McGEE TEACHES AS HE WAS GIVEN THE AWARD. PLAYERS FROM VARIOUS HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS WERE ALSO AT THE CEREMONY. ON TOP OF COACHING, AND TEACHING THE COMMUNITY MEANS JUST AS MUCH TO McGEE.

HE WAS ORIGIONALLY A 7th ROUND DRAFT PICK BY OAKLAND IN 2006. HE WAS ALSO IN TRAINING CAMP WITH THE GIANTS LAST YEAR.

IF YOU WENT TO BANGOR RACEWAY, DISSAPOINTED NO RACING TONIGHT AND QUESTIONABLE FOR SUNDAY….TRACK CONDITIONS EVEN AFTER RACING ON WEDNESDAY WILL COST EVERYONE ONCE AGAIN.

THEY HAVE COME TO REALIZE THAT THE DRAINAGE AT THE BASE OF THE TRACK IS THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM.
TODAY ENGINEERS FOR THE CITY OF BANGOR BEGAN UNPLUGGING THE DRAINS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS. THEY ARE SHOOTING FOR NEXT WEEKEND.
