Westcott wins in Switzerland

Sugarloafs Seth Wescott, the 2006 Olympic Snowboardcross Gold Medalist, won the first snowboardcross World Cup of his career today in

Arosa, Switzerland.


Wescott, who was raised in Farmington and lives at the base of Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley, beat out Markus Schairer of Austria and David Speiser of Germany to capture his first World Cup victory. Nick Baumgartner of Michigan and Graham Watanabe of

Idaho were the only other Americans to finish in the top ten.

EASTON SENIOR SEAN DANIELS IS BACK IN THE STARTING LINEUP FOR THE BEARS.
HE LOST HIS HAND AND PART OF HIS ARM IN A FARMING ACCIDENT A YEAR AGO. EARLIER THIS WEEK HE SCORED HIS FIRST POINTS OF THE SEASON. DANIELS WORKED ON HIS GAME OVER THE SUMMER AND SPENT A WEEK AT KOBE BRYANT’S BASKETBALL CAMP IN CALIFORNIA. THE BEARS ARE OFF TO A 2-0 START ON THE YEAR AND DANIELS GOAL IS TO PLAY AT LEAST ONE GAME AT THE BANGOR AUDITORIUM.
