BC wins Hockey East

Updated 6 years ago

Freshman John Muse makes 29 saves as Boston
College wins its record eighth Hockey East tournament championship
with a 4-0 win over Vermont.
Ben Smith gave the defending champion Eagles a 1-0 lead when he
tapped in the puck at 18:32 of the first. Tim Kunes and Brian
Gibbons scored second-period goals for the Eagles, and Nathan Gerbe
added an empty netter with 1:05 to play in the game.
Muse was at his best in the first few minutes of the game when
the Catamounts had several quality chances.
Vermont was making its first appearance in the title game in
just its third year in Hockey East.
With the win, the Eagles earned an automatic berth to the
16-team NCAA tournament field.
