House Leveled By Fire in Stockton Springs

A foundation is all that’s left of a home in Stockton Springs after it was destroyed by fire early Monday morning.

Neighbors called in the fire at Baycrest Lane around 2 a.m.

Fire fighters arrived about five minutes later, but the home was already destroyed.

Stockton Springs Fire Chief Vern Thompson says the flames had jumped to the garage as well.

The home was undergoing renovations at the time due to a water leak.

No one was inside.

The remote location of the home was a challenge for fire crews.

“Getting water here,” says Chief Thompson. “Like every other town, narrow road, trying to get enough water here to keep pumping. But, we have good mutual aid.”

Chief Thompson says he’ll contact the Fire Marshal’s Office to try and determine a cause.
