Today is Free Cone Day at some local Dairy Queen locations.
While the ice cream cones are free they’re gratefully taking donations for the local chapter of the Children’s Miracle Network.
Money from previous years helped buy a new playground at Acadia Hospital and specialized equipment for a Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit.
Kathie Norwood, COO of EMHS Foundation says, “Since 2001, local Dairy Queens have provided over $20,000 in support and contributions.”
Kathy Hannon, Owner of a few Dairy Queen locations says, “I’ve been with Dairy Queen since ’82 and we have raised money for CMN ever since I’ve been with Dairy Queen. It’s because the money stays local. We’ve had tours of the hospitals so the kids, you know the workers can see where the money goes. You just feel good knowing where the money is going.”
If you haven’t had a chance to get your free cone, you still have a chance. The fundraiser will run through closing time tonight.
