The Bangor Public Library is showcasing the work of an artist from the Midcoast.
The paintings of Jon Byrer are on display in the stairwell gallery through April as part of the Library’s mission to make art accessible to all.
Byrer uses a technique where the canvas is laid flat and enamel paint is poured from above giving his work a unique look.
“I, personally, love it when you look at it. There’s a lot of texture and emotion you can see in his strokes and in the way he puts paint on his canvas. So I think it’s definitely art you need to see close up. It’s not something that a picture does justice to,” said Hannah Young, the Director of Development and Marketing at the Bangor Public Library.
Right now, the library has two other art exhibits on display and encourages local artists to apply online to have their work featured.
