The United Way of Eastern Maine threw a party Thursday evening.
It was a celebration of the hard work and generosity of people who make up the organization.
The group set a lofty fundraising goal of $1.85M in donations.
They estimate that with that money they’ll be able to help more than 55,000 people in Eastern Maine.
“All the funds that we raise in this community stay local” said President and CEO Shirar Patterson. “The United Way supports a five county region, so we are distributing funds to programs throughout those counties. 54 programs.”
Patterson says most of the $1.85M is already through the door and fundraising will continue through June.
