A local group is working to find a solution to low adult literacy, and they need your help.
Literacy Volunteers of Bangor provides one-on-one reading and writing lessons to those who request it.
They’re looking for tutors.
Group members say it’s important to assist those who reach out for help.
“We have a need for individuals who have patience and flexibility, not necessarily a teaching degree or speak another language, to come and take the training, get the tools and resources to be paired with an individual to help them meet those literacy goals and help improve their life,” says Service Coordinator, Meredith Eaton.
Their spring training for new tutors begins march 13th at 6:00 p.m.
