Up to 300 new jobs could be coming to the Stacyville area…after an Alabama company acquired a closed power plant.
According to a press release, 42 Railroad Avenue finalized the purchase of the 24 megawatt power generation station last week…it came after four years of negotiations.
The CEO says there are plans to rebuild the turbine, activate new transmission lines and build a rotary kiln to produce more than 100 tons of activated carbon daily.
The Sherman Power Station shut down a few years ago.
The new biomass plant is scheduled to open at the end of June.
