Folks in Bangor came together to learn about a world culture that is growing locally.
Saturday was day two of the twelfth annual Maine Chinese Conference.
It brings together Chinese educators with Maine students and business leaders to celebrate China’s culture.
Organizers say that by learning Chinese culture now, it can prepare us for the future.
“As we like to say, the future really does speak Chinese. Chinese language education is getting more and more important worldwide and that’s because more and more businesses in the United States and western Europe are doing business in China,” says Elizabeth Chabe, Chair of the Chinese Language & Culture Center.
This year, speakers included Bangor City Council chair Sean Faircloth.
