Penquis: Community Action Month 

Penquis CEO and President Kara Hay stopped by the TV5 studios to talk about Community Action Month, which is the month of May.

– Community Action Month is a wonderful time to honor and celebrate the impact Community Action has in the lives of
families and communities across the country.
-Community Action has been in it for the long haul! Since 1964, Community Action has advocated for those who don’t have a voice. For more than 50 years, Community Action has provided much needed services and opportunities to millions of
individuals and families living in poverty.
-Penquis, which serves Penobscot, Piscataquis and Knox Counties, has been serving as the local Community Action Program in this community for almost 50 Years.
– Our goal at Penquis is to work in partnership with others to provide essential, life-changing services and opportunities for our most vulnerable Mainers. Our services are diverse are available for those who may  need them. We support financial security, access to safe and affordable housing, reliable transportation, access to high quality early care and education and supports that strengthen our families.
– Our staff is committed to their task of replacing disadvantages, with opportunities and hope, and in our hearts and minds we believe it is possible to conquer poverty in our lifetime.
