Rob Crone from Eastern Area Agency on Aging was in for this week’s Senior Watch, to talk about an upcoming fundraiser for Furry Friends Food Bank.
During the month of May, Eastern Area Agency on Aging is working to raise $15,000 for the Furry Friends Food Bank. This fundraiser helps to support seniors and their pets in Penobscot, Piscataquis, Washington and Hancock counties. Hundreds of seniors have benefited from the program.
Furry Friends Food Bank provides supplemental pet food, supplies to seniors and their furry companions. The main goal of the program is to keep seniors and their pets together and healthy. Too often, seniors will surrender their pet because they can no longer afford to feed it, or even more likely they share their own food with their pet, reducing their own nutritional balance.
To highlight the program and the importance of animals to seniors, each day, EAAA will feature a new dog or cat on its Facebook page.
If you would like your pet to be featured as a “Pet of the Day” please send us your videos and photos to [email protected]
