The Attorney General’s office is now handling the criminal investigation involving a former Old Town police officer.
Sergeant Michael Hashey resigned last April after 23 years on the department.
The police chief said at the time Hashey was the subject of a investigation into thefts from the department’s evidence room.
The case was given to the Waldo County District Attorney’s office to avoid a conflict of interest in Penobscot County.
We’re told because of more information in the case now, the investigation has been turned over to a prosecutor in the A.G.’s office.
Hashey has not been charged.
