Former Sangerville Fire Chief Admits to Taking Town Money

The former fire chief in Sangerville has admitted to using town money to buy gas for his own vehicles.

Charles Beane pleaded guilty last week to theft.

He resigned from the chief position in February, citing medical reasons.

Beane was ordered to pay back nearly $1,700 to the town and a $2,000 fine as part of a deferred sentence.

If Beane meets all of the conditions of his sentencing agreement in the next two years, the charge will be dropped to a misdemeanor.

If not, he could be sent to jail.
