The job of Bar Harbor town manager is expected to go to one of two candidates now.

Town councilors narrowed the selection out of 50 applicants.

One of the finalists is Cornell Knight, from Winthrop.

He’s the former town manager in Hallowell, Topsham and Winthrop.

The other finalist is David Bolling from Kingston, Tennessee.

He’s the town manager there right now but has also had the same job in Newcastle.

Town councilors say one of them will replace the former town manager Dana Reed.

He left the job in May after 27 years.

Some members of the public argued the town should not renew Reed’s contract in light of the firing of former police chief Nathan Young in January.

Community members will have a chance to meet both of the town manager candidates next week.

Bolling will be at the town council chambers Monday, August 25th, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Knight will be there Tuesday,August 26th, at the same time.
