A lobsterman was found dead in the water, alongside his boat, near Vinalhaven Wednesday.
The coast guard is investigating.
They suspect the man fell overboard and drowned.
Maine Marine Patrol identified the victim as Jeremy Philbrook, 36, of Vinalhaven.
Marine Patrol rescue crews pulled Philbrook out of the water and brought him to Carver’s Harbor where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators called the incident heartbreaking and are trying to find out what happened.
In a written statement Wednesday afternoon, Coast Guard officials reminded boaters to wear a life vest, especially when they’re alone.
