A Bangor man accused of attacking a former girlfriend last year and stealing a car last month is going to jail for six months.

30-year-old Lucus Qualey was sentenced Wednesday after pleading no contest  to domestic violence assault and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

As part of a plea deal, more serious charges against him were dropped.

Prosecutors say in March of last year, Qualey assaulted his then-girlfriend at a Bangor nightclub.

He was out on bail when police caught up with him again last month.

A neighbor said Qualey stole his car from his driveway in Bangor.

Witnesses told police they saw him driving erratically on the highway before he ditched the car in Old Town and ran off into the woods.

As part of his sentence, Qualey also has to pay $300 restitution to the car’s owner.
