The Penobscot County Emergency Management Agency is warning local businesses to stay away from an out of state company.

They recently received several complains from callers claiming a Florida-based company, Firehouse Promotions, contacted them because they were recommended by Penobscot County EMA.

The company makes dry-erase boards with fire-safety tips.

The Sheriff’s Office says they don’t allow any company to use their name as an endorsement.

The managers of Firehouse Promotions and say they’re a legitimate company and Penobscot County EMA cancelled a 5-year contract with them Thursday.

Chief Deputy Troy Morton says they haven’t done business with the company anytime recently and sent them a cease and desist order three years ago.
