A state trooper shot and killed 49-year-old Lewis Conlogue of Lagrange after a three hour standoff Sunday evening. Conlogue died at the scene.

State Police Spokesperson Steve McCausland says Conlogue was armed and had held police at bay for three hours outside a former restaurant called “Island Farm” on Route 16.

Trooper, Sgt. Scott Hamilton shot Conlogue and is on administrative leave with pay, as is standard procedure. The standoff ended just after 7:00pm.

A 3-4 mile stretch of Rt. 16 (also called Bennoch Road) between South Lagrange Road and Rt. 155 was closed for most of the evening.

The Attorney General’s Office is investigating, as is standard procedure for any officer-involved shooting.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office,  Lagrange Fire and Milo Fire assisted with the situation.
