DEDHAM, Maine (AP) — Former U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe and her husband, former Gov. John McKernan, are among the hosts for a fundraiser this month for Republican Gov. Paul LePage.
But a Snowe spokesman says the two aren’t sure if they’ll be able to attend the Aug. 12 event at the Lucerne Inn in Dedham.
The fundraiser will also feature New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the chairman of the Republican Governors Association, who’s returning after a trip to Maine in May.
Snowe, a moderate Republican, left the Senate in 2012, citing political polarization. She now advocates for ways to eliminate gridlock in Washington and uses a political action committee to help put consensus builders in office.
Snowe’s late first husband, Peter Snowe, was a mentor for LePage and encouraged him to go to college.
