It was quite a sight to see and hear on Main Street in Bangor Monday.
The old Webber fuel tanks are being torn down.
President Mike Shea says this is the end of a long era.
Webber started as an oil company in 1935.
He says they don’t need them any more since they’re no longer in the oil business.
Shea says the tanks have been empty for six months.
“We’re taking them down. We don’t gave any further need for them. And the land will be much more open and we’ll see eventually what we end up going with this property,” said Shea.
Shea says it will take a few days.
He says the metal will be recycled.
