A Caribou man is charged with multiple crimes after he crashed a car into several trees in Connor late Saturday night.

State Police say 19-year-old Jacob Lavoie was driving a car he allegedly did not have permission to use on Dubay Pit Road.

They say he lost control, went off the road into a ditch, crashed into several trees, and rolled over near the bank of the Madawaska river.

The car, a 2004 Volvo was seriously damaged. After the accident Lavoie fled the scene but later turned himself in at the Caribou Police Department.

He’s charged with operating after suspension, leaving the scene of an accident, and unauthorized use of property.

Lavoie was only slightly injured and did not need medial help.

The investigation is ongoing.
