People in Unity put away their cell phones and got out their hiking shoes for a summer walk on Saturday.
The Waldo County Trails Coalition led the walk as part of an ongoing series of hikes.
The group is working on creating a year-round foot path stretching from Unity to Belfast.
Members say getting outside and enjoying nature is good for people’s health.
“There’s nothing like nature. It’s been proven to be helpful for one’s mental health if you will… Or state of mind, or spiritual health and it’s just a connection to something larger than ourselves,” says Bob Kohl, a member of the WCTC.
The Waldo County Trails Coalition meets every Saturday for the hikes.
