The Maine Warden Service says, it has recovered the body of a 21-year-old man who went missing in the Kennebec River in Anson Thurday night.
Divers from the Maine warden service recovered the body of 21-year old Jordan Cummings just before 9-oclock Friday morning.
Lt. Kevin Adam of the Maine Warden Service tells us Cummings and some friends were trying to swim to a nearby rope swing when Cummings started to have some sort of difficulty in the water.
(Lt. Kevin Adam/Maine Wardens Service) “Started to exhibit signs and tell his friends that he was having difficulty. His friend jumped in after him. Sounds initially now like he actually made some contact with him under water and was unable to get him back up to the surface.”
Fire and rescue crews from Anson and Madison were on scene almost immediately.
They were joined by the Maine Warden Service who searched all morning in boats and in the air.
The body of Jordan Cummings was found Friday morning in the area where he went under.
Lt. Adam told us family and friends have been notified.
Cummings’ body will not be taken to the medical examiners office, since there were witnesses to the incident, a medical examiner will be on scene later and will remain there unless the medical examiner finds a reason to perform an autopsy
