Part of Newport’s Bicentennial celebration was a Motocross show.
Riders showed off their bikes and some moves as hundreds of people gathered for the town’s first motorcross event.
It was put on by Newport Motor Sports.
People say this sort event brings a little extra flavor to the town.
“I don’t think Newport has experienced anything like this before,” says event organizer Anthea Redmond. “It’s a type of thing you see on the television but it’s perfect for the bicentennial celebrations because it’s drawing a big crowd. Not only from the people of Newport but out of the area, a long way out of the area, so it’s tremendous fun.”
Parts of the planned show were stunted by weather conditions.
