From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

A cold front will cross the state during the day today, once again bringing us some scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. Thunderstorms are not expected to become severe but will be accompanied by heavy downpours. Temperatures will be a bit cooler today with highs in the 70s to near 80° and humidity will remain high. Steadier, heavier rain associated with Hurricane Arthur will begin to spread into the area from south to north later this afternoon and this evening. Rain will fall heavily at times tonight with the heaviest rain falling over Hancock and Washington counties. The latest track of Hurricane Arthur is a bit further west than previously forecast which means that we have a better chance of seeing some tropical storm force winds (39 MPH or greater) over Hancock and Washington counties tonight and early Saturday. That being said, based on this latest track it looks like winds could gust to 50 MPH Downeast and up to 30 MPH elsewhere.

Rain will continue during the morning hours Saturday, gradually tapering off from west to east across the state from late morning through the afternoon. By the time the rain winds down, we’ll see an average of 1″-4″ for much of the state with the highest rainfall totals over Hancock and Washington counties where locally higher amounts up to 5″ are possible. We could see some minor street flooding in poor drainage areas. Northwest winds will usher a drier, less humid airmass into the region giving us a break from the humidity for the weekend. As the drier air moves in, we’ll see skies start to clear out from west to east during the afternoon. Saturday’s temperatures will be cooler than we’ve seen the past few days with highs near 70° north and low to mid-70s elsewhere. Sunday will feature a mix of sun and clouds with highs right around 80°. Humidity comes back early next week with a few disturbances passing through the area giving us scattered showers and thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday.

Rest of Today: mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible. Steadier, heavier rain arriving later in the day. Humid. Highs between 73°-80°. Variable wind 5-10 MPH.

Tonight: periods of rain, heavy at times. Turning less humid. Lows between 52°-60°. North/northwest wind 10-20 MPH, gusts to 50 MPH possible Downeast and up to 30 MPH elsewhere.

Saturday: periods of rain, heavy at times. Rain will taper off from west to east from late morning through the afternoon. Brightening skies from west to east during the afternoon. Cooler and less humid. Highs between 68°-78°. Northwest wind 15-25 MPH.

Sunday: mix of sun and clouds. Highs between 77°-84°.

Monday: variably cloudy, warm and more humid. Highs in the mid-70s to around 80° along the coast, low to mid-80s inland.

Tuesday: variably cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the mid-70s to low 80s, coolest along the coast.
