State Police expect a big increase in traffic this holiday weekend.
Troopers are stepping up their efforts to crack down on drunk, aggressive, and distracted drivers.
53 people have been killed on Maine roads this year, according to the Bureau of Highway Safety.
Traffic accidents are most common in July and August.
In an effort to keep you safe, troopers will be out in full-force, patrolling the roads, many in unmarked cars.
State Police remind drivers to wear seatbelts and keep their eyes on the road.
Troopers are also asking drivers to provide plenty of room when passing any police or emergency vehicle on the side of the road.
