Variably Cloudy & Becoming More Humid Today

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

The ridge of high pressure that brought the sunny and pleasant weather to Maine today will slowly drift off to the southeast of New England today. A southwest breeze on the backside of the high will help gradually pull more humid air into our region as we move through today. The combination of the more humid airmass and a slowly approaching cold front from the north will cause skies to range from partly to mostly cloudy today. Northern parts of Maine will likely see some scattered showers and storms develop later today due to the approaching front, but the rest of the state won’t see much in the way of showers and thundershowers till later tonight or Wednesday. High temps today will range from near 70 along the coast and over the far north to the mid 70s to low 80s elsewhere across Maine.

The front to our north will slowly sag southward across Maine Wednesday and bring our region on and off showers along with some imbedded thundershowers. A southerly breeze ahead of the front will continue to usher a rather muggy airmass up into our area Wednesday. The front will move south and then stall along the Maine coastline Wednesday night and Thursday. A storm riding along the front will bring more showers to Maine Thursday, with some of the rainfall being heavy at times.

High pressure slowly building southeast from central Canada will push the front off to our south Friday, which will cause the skies across Maine to partially clear and the humidity levels to lower. The high will likely build into the Northeast over the weekend and help bring brighter and pleasant weather to New England for both Saturday and Sunday.

Today: Partly sunny south and mostly cloudy north, with a few afternoon showers and storms possible up north and high temps in the 70s to near 80.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with scattered showers and storms likely and rather muggy, with high temps in the 70s.

Thursday: On and off showers likely, with high temps in the upper 60s to mid 70s.

Friday: Becoming partly cloudy, with high temps in the mid to upper 70s.

Saturday: Partly to mostly sunny, with high temps in the mid 70s to low 80s.
