Maine Seeking Applications For Scholarship Program

Updated 3 months ago

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine is accepting applications for a scholarship program that will help pay for education and training to help people get jobs in high-demand fields.

The Maine Department of Labor says it’s seeking applications for the Competitive Skills Scholarship Program starting Monday until July 3.

After a year-long review of the program, it’s undergoing some changes. The department says the rule changes will help trainees graduate their program with a certificate or degree more quickly.

Among the changes is that participants now must live in Maine, have to take at least 12 credit hours to receive a stipend, and apprenticeship programs will be considered a form of training.
