An East Millinocket high school is getting a makeover thanks to a Florida lottery winner.

The former East Millinocket resident donated $2.1 million for upgrades to Schenck High School.

Devoe Construction will be working all summer putting in new entrances, bathrooms, floors and a gymnasium roof.

The project benefits the whole town.

“We’re going to be on the average about 20 to 25 men working here so it brings a lot of money and revenue to the local businesses,” explains Reed Devoe, heading construction.  “We eat at restaurants, lodging, stores. It puts a lot of money right back into the local economy.  On this project I’ve hired quite a few local guys, too.”

The work is expected to be completed by mid-September.
