The Ohio Street Farmer’s Market in Bangor opened for the season Wednesday afternoon.
The market, located at the Grange, hosts several local vendors each week during the summer.
Vendors accept EBT cards and offer a 25% discount for using them.
There is even a Market Kid’s Club.
“The kids sign in and they get tokens they can go and buy things at the vendors,” says market manager Rolf Staples.
“Kids are going to be the consumers of tomorrow and I think it’s really great to educate kids about what their choices are in terms of where they can buy food and how they can support their local communities,” explains Sonja Birthisel with UMaine’s Co-Op Extension.
The market is from 2 p.m. To 6 p.m. every Wednesday.
