Cross Insurances Buys Naming Rights to Second Arena in Maine

The Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland is getting a new name – one that sounds familiar to folks in Eastern and Central Maine.

Cross Insurance announced Wednesday it bought the naming rights for the building that will now be called the Cross Insurance Arena.

It’s a $2.5 million deal for 10 years.

The insurance agency also owns the naming rights for the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor under a 15-year agreement.

The Civic Center, which is home to the Portland Pirates hockey team, reopened in February after a 15-month long renovation project.
