Palmyra Man Stops Would-be Car Thief

Updated 5 months ago

Police say a Palmyra man foiled an attempt to steal his vehicle after he awoke to hear his car starting and stalling.

It happened late Friday night on the Mud Pond Road.

The homeowner ran from his bedroom to his driveway and saw a man and a dog in his car.

Police say he pulled the keys out of the ignition, went back inside to get a gun, chased the man, then held him until police arrived.

Deputies say 20 year old Chadwick Bragg of Dixmont admitted he liked the sight of the car and wanted to hear it run.

Bragg is charged with unauthorized use of property.
