Maine Seeking Applicants For Conservation Grants

Updated 3 months ago

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine is looking for groups interested in grants to support conservation projects for wetland and wildlife habitats.

Letters of intent for the nearly $1.7 million in grants through the Maine Natural Resource Conservation Program are due June 30 and can be submitted online.

The program has provided nearly $10 million to restoration projects over the last several years. Among groups that have won funding is the Loon Echo Land Trust, which got $136,000 to buy 150 acres of shoreline of Perley Pond and the Northwest River.

The grants are administered through the program on behalf of Maine’s Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army of Engineers. Grant winners will be announced in 2015.
