A reported robbery, causing quite a commotion in Brewer Tuesday afternoon, likely never happened, according to police.
A witness says a woman was pushed to the ground near Brewer Federal Credit Union on North Main Street.
He says the man who did it fled on foot.
A state police K-9 unit was called in.
Deputy Chief Jason Moffitt of the Brewer Police Department tells us that nobody has been arrested and they’re not searching for any suspects.
He offered no comment on the reported assault.
Still onlookers called it a stressful situation.
The male witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “This woman was very shaken up and distraught. She was fearful. She was very afraid.”
Police expect to release more information Wednesday.
They do not consider the incident a threat to public safety.
