Scattered Showers Tonight & Early Wednesday

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

The backdoor cold front that slipped through Maine last night has become nearly stationary over southwestern New England. A surface storm and an upper level disturbance will ride southeast along the stalled front and bring parts of Maine occasional showers tonight and early tomorrow morning. With the storm sliding to the southwest of our region tonight and early tomorrow the bulk of the showers will be located over southern and western parts of Maine. Northern Maine will likely remain partly cloudy tonight, with low temps falling into the chilly 30s north of the Millinocket region.

As the storm continues to slide to the southeast of New England tomorrow, the morning showers over the southern half of Maine will come to an end and skies will partially clear from north to south during the afternoon. An onshore breeze tomorrow along with a good deal of clouds will hold our temps well below normal as highs range from the mid 50s at the coast to the mid 60s up north.

High pressure will build south into New England from Quebec Thursday and bring the entire state a good deal of sunshine. Under mostly sunny skies and after a very cool start to the day the temps will warm back up to the upper 60s to low 70s which is normal for the later part of May. Another upper level disturbance and surface storm will drift into New England Friday from southern Canada and bring a fresh round of showers to our region.  The showers should taper off later Friday night or Saturday morning as the upper low continues to drift off to the southeast of New England and high pressure approaches our region from the west. High pressure moving into the Northeast should produce bright skies and milder temps all across the Pine Tree State Sunday.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with scattered showers south and low temps in the upper 30s north to the 40s south.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy start, with morning showers south then partial clearing late and high temps in the mid 50s at the coast to mid 60s up north.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and pleasant, with high temps in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Friday: Becoming mostly cloudy, with developing showers and high temps in the upper 50s and 60s.

Saturday: Possible early showers then partly cloudy, with high temps in the 60s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny and milder, with high temps in the low to mid 70s.
