PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — The Nova Star cruise ferry that will take passengers from Portland, Maine to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia will be christened on Monday in Boston.
Christening is scheduled to take place at Black Falcon Terminal on Boston’s waterfront at 10 a.m. The ship will arrive at the terminal at 6 a.m.
The 528-foot cruise ferry is expected to accommodate 1,200 passengers and include amenities such as a casino, retail store, spa and fine dining. It will make daily roundtrips to Nova Scotia. The crossing is expected to take ten hours and will leave from Portland at 9 p.m. for an overnight cruise. The distance between Portland and Yarmouth is 185 nautical miles.
The ship’s first commercial voyage is scheduled for May 15.
